Energy Efficiency of the Building Envelope

“The future is only bright from the choices we make today. Energy efficiency is about reduction of consumption and commitment to innovation of design.”

Foundation, Wall, Roof and Transition Design

The building envelope consists of the foundation design which connects to the wall design which connects to the roof design. There are six sides to a building and all sides have connectivity and continuity in protection, insulation and performance.

When it comes to building performance, it is important to look at the building envelope as a whole and to understand the components involved and how they perform individually and as a system. Rather than design just the foundation and the wall and the roof we look to design the building envelope as a whole.
